Fall 2020

Consider getting a season pass for your family if you ride ATVs or dirt bikes.

Every campground has something different to offer. The Atkinson Motorsports Park really does it just right. You’ll have everything that you need to spend the whole weekend riding. In the camping area there are showers and restroom facilities for campers only.

The staff is easy to reach through Facebook if you have questions for registration or rules. Once you arrive, if the staff is not onsite yet, there are instructions posted on the door to the office so that you can set up and unload.

The campsites here are quite large which is great considering most people camping here need room for a camper, vehicle, trailer, fire ring, picnic table, lawn chairs, star-gazing blanket, coolers, oh – and all your ATVs, dirt bikes, and safety gear.

The arrangement really worked out perfectly. Saturday morning we arrived and set up camp. Myself, I’m not much of a rider but my husband and boys love to ride. We unloaded the ATVs and took them for a spin around the property.

Once we climbed to the top of the hill we found the track. They had an awesome time on that track. It’s pretty big and there are plenty of jumps and ramps and curves. Next, we found some trails that wound here and there around the area. Plenty of the trails were cleared and flat – which I loved – and several were just full of mud puddles and twists and turns and hills – which the boys loved.

What’s to eat?

We returned to camp and made a simple lunch of deli sandwiches, chips and dip, fruit and veggies. The afternoon break didn’t last long as the kids were anxious to ride again. So that’s what we did for the remainder of the day. It seems like we went everywhere but I’m pretty sure that we still haven’t seen it all.

Where’s the best riding spot?

Our favorite spot was near the water where there was a large flat area and the mud was endless. It was a spot where they could sort of free-roam and throw mud all over the place. There’s also a spot nearby that’s like a creek bed. They got the ATVs and shoes deeply stuck in the mud. Note: bring extra shoes. You never know who’s going to be riding back to camp with only one shoe.

After we were able to retrieve the ATVs and mud-soaked shoes, we returned to camp for the night. There is no riding allowed after sunset for safety. Chili was ready to eat in the crockpot and the campfire was started. We sat around the fire with some good conversation and stargazing. Another great night.
